Is El Capitan Faster than Yosemite to boot and handle applications on Macs with just 2 GB RAM like the Apple MacBook Air 2.13 GHz 128 GB SSD (released by Apple on June 2009)? OS X El Capitan. This version of OS X El Capitan is for users running OS X Snow Leopard who would like to upgrade to macOS Sierra. If you are running Snow Leopard and would like to upgrade to Sierra, you need to install El Capitan first. This version of El Capitan can also be installed on Mac computers that are not comparable with Sierra. El Capitan may be struggling with your Wi-Fi settings. Apple has released updates to try and improve this problem, so first check for any updates to OS X and see if you can download a solution.

El Capitan Will Not Install

I booted into internet recovery and attempted to re-install OS X El Capitan, however going through the prompts I reach a dead end where it asks me to 'Select the disk where you want to install OS X'. There are no disks listed. Disk Utility in internet recovery also does not list any disks. Click 'Download'. Click continue and it will download the El Capitan installer. When the installer is downloaded it will automatically launch. As it launches Quit the installer at the first question. That will leave you with a 'Install OS X El Capitan' installer app (about 6 GB) in the Applications folder.

No packages were eligible for install. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance.

El Capitan Reinstall

Quit the installer to restart your computer and try again.

I checked Apple’s support Matrix (it is a very old macbook pro) at https://support.apple.com/kb/SP728?locale=en_GB and it was listed as supported.

After lots of Googling and investigation, I discovered that the date and time were not set to current, the macbook thought it was year 2000.
